CRISTINE LYNCH, CHAIR.
Cristine has lived in Spotsylvania since moving from California in 1994. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Historic
Preservation from the University of Mary Washington and serves on the Spotsylvania County Historic Preservation Commission.
Cristine helped create the Committee of 500 in 2002. She and her husband, Mike, are parents to Adam, a James Madison University
student, and Casey, a Courtland High School graduate. Cristine and her family live in the Lee Hill district in the Fox Point
subdivision.
PETE KOLAKOWSKI, VICE CHAIR.
Pete has been a resident of the area since 1972.
He has been employed in management positions in Virginia local government (in Fredericksburg), State government
(working for VDOT) and, currently, at the federal government level (for the U.S. Navy at Dahlgren).
In the jobs, all aspects of transportation have been an important part of the work.
Also, Pete serves as one of the Spotsylvania County’s representatives on the FAMPO citizen’s Transportation
Advisory Committee.
FRED MESSING, IMMEDIATE PAST CHAIR.
Fred relocated to Spotsylvania about 8 years ago from South Florida, where he was a hospital CEO and five-hospital system
COO. He is a Life Fellow (highest level of professional membership) of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Fred
has served as the Citizen Member and Chair of the Spotsylvania County Fire and EMS Commission. He is a Citizen Board Member
of Mary Washington Healthcare, and remains involved part time in healthcare management consulting.
CHRIS FOLGER.
Chris brings leadership experience from both the not for profit and for profit sectors. She was the Chair of C500
from 2006-2008, serving on the Reality Check Regional Growth Planning effort and on the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. Before
retirement, she provided information technology solutions to the federal government. She and her husband moved
to Spotsylvania County in 2003, filled with enthusiasm for the county and a keen desire to be part of its remaining a wonderful
place to live…for those who have lived here for a very long time and for those who are arriving daily. Chris
currently serves as Chair of the Spotsylvania Greenways Initiative, a non-profit dedicated to connecting people with nature
and each other through a network of walking and biking trails in the County. She is also a member of the Regional
Green Earth Subcommittee and the Children and Nature Task Force.
ALICIA GREGORY.
ANDREA HORNUNG.
Andrea has lived in Spotsylvania since graduating from Mary Washington College in 1983. She holds several degrees: Bachelor's
of Science in Biology, MWC; Bachelor's of Science in Marine Biology, UNC-Wilmington; and Master's of Planning in Urban and
Environmental Planning, UVA. She has worked in Planning since 1989 when first employed by the VA Water Control Board, known
as the Dept. of Environmental Quality (DEQ) in Water Resources Planning. She has held the following positions in local government
in the region: Environmental Planner, Caroline County; Comprehensive Planner, Culpeper County; Sr. Planner and Planning Manager,
Spotsylvania County; and Assistant Director and Principal Planner, Stafford County. She has a passion for planning and working
with the development community utilizing sound planning practices. She has worked on residential and commercial development
in Caroline, Culpeper, Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties. She is a member of the VA Chapter of the American Planning Association
and held positions of Secretary, Regional Director and, currently, Chesapeake Section Co-Chair. She has been active on the
legislative committee of the VA Chapter APA and assisted Stafford County and Delegate Athey with passage of an amendment to
the VA State Code. She keeps busy with two boys who are active in sports with husband, retired Col. Neil Hornung, USMC.
TINA LANCE.
Tina currently teaches Business and Economics at Germanna Community College. In addition, she facilitates Advanced Leadership
and Managerial Leadership classes for the United States Postal Service (USPS). Tina retired from the USPS (Washington DC)
in 2009 after 28 years, where she held several Executive Marketing positions. Tina and her family moved to Spotsylvania County
in 1997, from Jacksonville, FL. Her children have graduated from Massaponax High School, Spotsylvania High School, Germanna
Community College and University of Mary Washington. She is actively involved in the community, serves on the Spotsylvania
Historic Preservation Commission and lives in the Livingston District.
MAC SMITH.
Mac is a native of Fredericksburg and currently a resident of Spotsylvania County where he has lived for more than a decade
with his wife and two daughters. He is an experienced marketing professional with a background in events management and graphic
design with a love of social media. He has worked in, or in support of, the nonprofit sector for almost a decade. After spending
several years in the insurance industry providing marketing and claims handling services, Mac served as the director of operations
for several membership associations in the
automobile glass industry. He is now the director of marketing for a Washington, D.C. based consulting firm that provides
human resources support to the nonprofit sector. Mac is currently a vestryman for St. George’s Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg.
He is also the Treasurer for the St. George's Episcopal Preschool.
C500 is expanding community involvement through the use of a new committee system, in which general members will serve on
